Are You GDPR Ready?
Tomorrow, the Data Protection Act 1998 will see a shake up in the form of the new General Protection Regulations 2018 which is likely to affect your business.
The GDPR features 99 articles which will be enforced by the introduction of a new data protection bill. This will replace the older Data Protection Act, and in turn the DPA will be repealed.
- As Accountants, the three important articles that we think may affect your business are:
People will have greater access to data
New bigger fines from the Government – Starting at £500,000
You’ll be more accountable for the data you handle.
The good news is if you already ensure the safe handling and storage of data detailed in the Data Protection Act 1998, there shouldn’t be too much more to do. However, now may be a good time to consider your options as there may be significant changes you might need to make.
